I was going through a druidry phase because it felt like the oldest and closest to my “lineage”. But a man named August Kelpe, my grandmas grandfather, kept his foot in the door of my curiosity. He was a Lutheran pastor in the days when the German pastors were immigrating to the Midwest en masse. I remember having the thought “what’s older than even druidry? At least on paper. The BIBLE.” And I even thought isn’t it kind of mystical in some ways? Ok, August, what is going on with baptism and communion… And what on esrth is a Gloria Patri and a Nunc Dimitis? and that’s when spiritual beliefs came full circle for me.
